EARLY IPHONE 12 PERFORMANCE TEST RESULTS SURFACE, SHOWS CONTRADICTORY INFORMATION
UPDATE- iPhone 12 Geekbench Scores Surface
Shared by leaker Ice Universe on Twitter, new Geekbench scores for the standard iPhone 12 have surfaced online. However, there are 4 different test results, each producing different results. As we reported on Tuesday, these tests should be taken with a grain of salt until the devices have shipped, and are running public, optimized iOS versions.
Nonetheless, according to the best scores for the iPhone 12 referenced as “iPhone 13,2,” the new handset gets 1598 for single-core, and 3984 for multi-core in the same test. A separate test shows the iPhone 12 scoring 4028 in multi-core while another test shows it scoring as low as 2525 for multi-core.
The varying degrees of numbers further proves our earlier point that these tests should be taken with a grain of salt and not used as any final judgment or review of the device. All of the devices according to Geekbench are shown running iOS 14.1, given it has not shipped yet, these tests are likely being ran on test iPhone 12 models running diagnostic software, instead of optimized iOS versions.
AnTuTu results for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have also surfaced. For the iPhone 12, it scores 564,899 vs. the iPhone 11’s 456,065. The iPhone 12 Pro scores 572,133 vs. the iPhone 11 Pro’s average score of 455,397 according to AnTuTu.
Despite not being in the hands of customers yet, early Geekbench test results for the iPhone 12 Pro running the A14 chip have surfaced online. According to the test results, the iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with 6GB of RAM and the 6 core- A14 processor. The iPhone 12 Pro according to the results scores 1590 for the single-core, and 3120 for multi-core.

In comparison to the iPhone 11 Pro Max with the A13 Bionic chip, the 12 Pro scores 263 points higher in the single-core range, and down 183 for multi-core. The results show the iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.1, which is likely what the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will run when they are shipped later this month. While there is a decrease vs. the 11 Pro Max, final performance for the 12 Pro once the device ships will likely score higher due to better software optimization.
Geekbench results for the unreleased 4th gen. iPad Air have also surfaced. The results between the 12 Pro and new iPad Air confirm that both are running on the same A14 Bionic chip, however the 4th gen. iPad only features 4GB of RAM vs. the 12 Pro’s 6GB.

For single-core, the iPad scores 9 points less than the 12 Pro, but dominates in the multi-core test, scoring 1,142 points higher than the 12 Pro. Once again, these tests are early and should be taken with a grain of salt. No test results for the 12 mini, 12, or the 12 Pro Max have yet surfaced however similar performance can be expected between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will be the first iPhone 12 models to go live for pre-orders starting on October 16th with shipments starting on October 23rd. As for the 12 mini and 12 Pro Max, pre-orders will begin on November 6th and starting shipping on November 23rd. Learn more about the new iPhones here.
