Apple to start producing new iPhone SE in India.

Apple to start producing new iPhone SE in India; report

The Informationin a paywalled report via Appleinsider says that Apple is gearing up to produce the new iPhone SE in India in an attempt to bypass import taxes, per Appleinsider‘s report:

According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple has told at least one of its supplier in China to start shipping components for the 2020 iPhone SE to India manufacturing partners. This will start the process to assemble the new iPhone in India, allowing the company to work around hefty import taxes.

If true, it would produce massive economic growth in India and help stimulate the economy. An earlier report suggested that Apple is eyeing India for a massive investment that would help in removing its reliance from China.

The report from The Information says that the producer will be Wistron, but notes that Apple’s main iPhone producer in China, Foxconn already has a presence in India. The news also comes following the easing of Indian government regulation that Apple voiced displeasure with. The regulations made it harder for companies such as Apple to achieve long term stability in the economy and made the whole process harder.
